The past month has been a whirlwind of celebrations. When I think of each celebration I am able to experience I say a prayer of gratitude. Eighteen years ago this month I was diagnosed with cancer. One of the most challenging experiences of my life. That was definitely what I would call a stormy period of my life. This past week, I had the opportunity to have lunch with two of my dearest friends. We hadn't seen each other in eleven years. We had so much to catch up on and catch up we did. I learned that in the past eleven years each of them have experienced storms of their own. Their storms are ongoing. Looking at them one |
would never know that they are experiencing life changing events. It made me wonder why hurt, dishonesty, and pain are a part of our life. Why do we have storm surges in our lives? We don't have a storm prediction center and often times we are caught unprepared for these storms. Both of my dear friends are weathering storms they never saw coming. They are so strong and have such an incredible outlook it made me think about how each storm we face has the possibility to make us stronger and wiser. I have met people who let their storms tear them down and they fail to rebuild. However, I know more people who assess the storm damage and rebuild stronger than they were before. I found this picture on Pinterest and it just struck me as incredibly relevant to what I have been thinking lately. We are never the same after a storm. The power to be a stronger wiser person after your storm belongs to you. Whatever you are going through right now may feel like it will never end but, it will. When it does how will you respond to the damage? Will you rebuild or will you walk away? How you weather that storm is up to you. I hope that you will rebuild and come out of your storm a stronger version of yourself.
