So much has transpired in the past four months, we celebrated Thanksgiving, my daughter’s birthday, Christmas, my daughter getting engaged, we rang in the new year, and have been enjoying some pretty amazing weather (for February in Chicago). However, I don't want you to think that this is like Facebook or Pinterest where everything is perfect and wonderful, because while I am highlighting all the goodness that has transpired, there have also been struggles. It is a fact of life that with the good there is always some bad. Life has a way of keeping one grounded.
Recently, I was reading a post on Facebook by Joel Osteen Ministries and it said, “We may never understand why bad things happen, but God wouldn’t have allowed it if it wasn’t going to somehow work for your good. Nothing that’s happened to you can keep you from your destiny. The only thing that can stop you is you.”
This statement really hit home for me and is something that I truly believe, because when I look at each struggle in my life I can see that there is a reason for that struggle. I haven't always been able to see the struggles as the beginning of something good, but once I changed my mindset to think that way I noticed that God's blessings began to really rain down on me.
When we change our mindset to see that the challenges life brings us are meant for our enrichment and not for our detriment, it makes all the badness turn to good. Each day that we have on this Earth is a day filled with opportunity. The choices you make control your destiny. Don’t stand in the way of your own happiness and success.
