As I sit here at my desk, eating my lunch, listening to Christmas music, I am looking around my classroom and thinking of all the students who enter through my door. During the downtime of parent/teacher conferences last week I put up my winter decorations. (I say winter decorations and not Christmas decorations because I leave them up until February.) As the children entered my room this week their faces lit up. They were excited to see the festive decorations. This led to discussions about Christmas and what they are asking Santa for. There is an unusual excitement in their faces and sparkle in their eyes this time of year. They are so eager with anticipation one cannot help but join them. All of these thoughts of Christmas and the excitement it brings got me thinking. What if we looked at everyday the same way? Each new day is truly a gift and something to look forward to with great anticipation. What can you accomplish, experience, and cherish about each new day? I have had my share of very bad days however even in those very bad days there is something to cherish. I hope that you have a wonderful month of December and that you too can be filled with the eager anticipation of a child waiting for Christmas morn. Live a life filled with gratitude for the small things and you will live a very fulfilled life. Enjoy the anticipation!
